Welcome to the Managers resource page for YNHHS!

First, let’s acknowledge that managing people with the countless human concerns they bring to work can be challenging at times.  At any point in time, some of our employees may be dealing with serious issues such as, depression, substance abuse, family troubles, divorce, domestic violence and suicide.  And there are some not-so-serious issues that can also impact our workplace that you can be supportive of and assist the employee to overcome.

Consultation:

So be aware that you may call the Employee and Family Resource (EFR) number yourself for consultation to help you think through your options in managing a difficult employee situation: 877-275-6226, option 2. It’s totally confidential and you will speak to an experienced EAP workplace consultant. Their job is to make your job easier.

Referral:

You can always refer an employee to the EFR.  Click here for a chart that shows the progression from an Informal Referral to a Formal Referral to a Mandatory Referral. The goal is to motivate an employee who could benefit from some objective, professional help as early as possible. Here are some key points to tell employees whenever you make a referral:

  • The EFR is totally confidential, YNHHS gets no names or any information from Carelon Behavioral Health, our external EFR/EAP provider.
  • Services are free.
  • Up to six sessions are provided per problem, per year.
  • Family household members may use the EFR.
  • All employees regardless of status may use the EFR.
  • Click here for an EFR brochure.

Training:

Maybe you would like some training for your team on stress, change, interpersonal conflict or work-life balance. This does not take the place of what the Institute for Excellence (IFE) can offer so check with them first.  Click here for a catalog of offerings from the EFR

Critical Incident Response (CIR):

When a traumatic or critical event occurs, as a manager you may call the EFR for fast, professional, onsite counseling and debriefing. When should you call for assistance? Anytime, day or night, the EFR toll-free number is answered 24/7/365. Basically any event that is emotionally overwhelming can qualify for assistance  Click here for some questions to ask yourself. If you’re not sure, just call for a consultation.

Employee Awareness:

As a leader, we recommend that you periodically remind your employees of all the EFR services at team meetings. See the key bullet points above.

  • Post EFR information in your break areas or via email distributions.
  • Forward information about upcoming EFR workshops and events.
  • Invite one of our EFR staff below to your team meetings to give an overview of our services.
  • Visit Thrive > My Wellbeing for more information: THRIVE at YNHHS - My Wellbeing for an EFR brochure.
